1919- Roald Dahl’s sister, Astri, dies from appendicitis.
1939- Roald Dahl joins the Royal Air Force in Kenya.
1940- Has “a monumental bash on the head” when he crashes his airplane.
1953– Roald Dahl marries Patricia Neal.
1955– Dahl’s first daughter, Olivia, is born.
1957-Dahl’s second daughter, Tessa, is born.
1960- Dahl’s first son, Theo, is born, and is also seriously injured in an accident.
1962- Dahl’s first born child, Olivia, dies from the measles.
1964- Ophelia, Dahl’s third daughter is born.
1965- Lucy, Dahl’s last child is born. Patricia Dahl suffers from three strokes.
1967- Sophie Hesselberg Dahl, (Roald’s mother), dies.
1977- Roald Dahl undergoes surgery for a hip replacement.
1978- Roald Dahl begins working with Quentin Blake, who illustrated most of Dahl’s books from then on.
1983- Patricia and Roald Dahl divorce. Dahl remarries. His new wife is Felicity Crossland. Dahl also wins the Whitbread Prize for The Witches.
November 23, 1990- Roald Dahl, age 74, dies.
